Dr. Bijay Adhikari

Tidbits: Born and raised in a remote village of Nepal, completed a veterinary degree there in 1996. After completing 5 years of public service in Nepal, studied at Massey University, New Zealand and received a Masters of Public Health in 2003. The quest for further education did not stop, as Bijay then entered further study and got a PhD in Veterinary Medicine (epidemiology) from WSU, USA in 2008. He then served OSU as a post doctoral researcher before joining PHAC as an Immunization Surveillance Officer. He is currently working as a Provincial Communicable Disease Epidemiologist at the Saskatchewan Ministry of Health. He currently resides in Regina with his wonderful wife and 2 lovely kids where he is known as the local "troubleshooter"

Tidbits: I am pleased to be back in my 'home' province of Saskatchewan working as an epidemiologist. I have had the good fortune of spending the last few years gaining experience and learning from public health epis in Ontario and British Columbia - at the national Foodborne, Waterborne, Zoonotic Infections Division of the Public Health Agency of Canada in Guelph and at the British Columbia Centre for Disease Control in Vancouver. My husband Aaron and I live in Regina with our daughter Eleanor.

Tidbits: Completed Doctor of Veterinary Medicine at the Western College of Veterinary Medicine, 1999.
- Returned to the WCVM in 2004 to pursue graduate studies; completed PhD in Veterinary Epidemiology in 1999
- Worked for the Public Health Agency of Canada 1999-2010, collaborating on a number of systematic reviews in the area of food safety.
- Joined the Animal Health Unit at the SK Ministry of Agriculture in September of 2010 as a Disease Surveillance Veterinarian.
